So after a day of jam packed business meetings followed by a lovely dinner, see previous post Breathtaking Ibiza Part 1 in case you missed it, it was Day 2 in Breathtaking Ibiza and time to explore. Following a short meeting in the morning, it was time to head to the private beach and then scout more property locations a bit further south, which provided the opportunity to see the breathtaking views of Es Vedrà island.

Playa Cala Carbo

One of Ibiza’s most private little beaches, Cala Carbo can only be reached by car via a small narrow road that will take you to a small, sheltered sandy cove surrounded by rocky, pine clad hills.

The actual beach is a combination of sand and pebbles that nests gently into crystal clear waters. The rocky coastline that extends from the sand is great for kids to scramble over, as well as adults wanting to climb over the rocks or sun bathe on them.

Standing on the shoreline and looking out, you really feel setup to take the perfect picture postcard.

The main objective on the beach is pure relaxation! This is not a party beach, you go here to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings and to go off the grid, so to speak. However, you can also charter private boats from here or dine at the two restaurants offering freshest of fish caught locally from the Mediterranean.

If you want to come back from holiday and say, I went to an exclusive private beautiful beach in Ibizam then Playa Cala Carbo is definitely for you. It was so peaceful and serene, it was definitely hard to leave, but we had to go view another property high up on a hill with an amazing view.

Es Vedrà Island

Es Vedrà is a small rocky island off of the South-West coast of Ibiza. Not only does it take your breath away, but also the island is riddled with stories of legend.

Uninhabited, the giant rock is beautiful and fascinating because of its wild aspect- it sticks out of the sea all alone. When I tell you it is breathtaking, especially when viewed from above where we were, it really is – everyone falls in love with this island at first sight.

But we are not the only ones, Es Vedrà has been captivating people for thousands of years. The island is surrounded by an aura of mystery and superstition. Some say it is magnetic, others say that it is the last remains of the legendary lost city of Atlantis, which many scientists believe is buried in the mud right here in Southern Spain. Many believe that the island is said to be home to sirens and sea-nymphs, who tried to lure Odysseus for his ship in Homer’s epic the Odyssey. Still, many other sailors claimed of the sirens destroying ships, such that both sailors and pilots are afraid to navigate around the island. Whether these legends are true, there is definitely an aura of mystery and wonder when you are viewing the island.

As the afternoon rolled in and we approached sunset, I was overcome by a feeling of humility and wonder. I felt so small compared to the rocky island, and also was so happy that in this world where loved ones sit at a dinner table and instead of connecting with each other, they connect with their cell phones, that I was able to connect with nature and appreciate a part of the world that was untouched by man and technology. At that moment captured in the photos below, standing directly across from Es Vedrà, I felt on top of the world and so appreciative to live in it.

After that amazing view of the island and sunset from above, it was time to head back down to the Playa for one final swim before the sunset. I am still trying to process all that I saw while I was there for a short time. But if I could use one phrase to describe my experience, it would be that I witnessed magic. I hope with this post that I was able to share some of that magic with you. Please leave a comment here below and let me know your thoughts on breathtaking Ibiza.
