Welcome to Corsica! BahramGour, 2016-10-072016-10-09 I am here in beautiful Corsica for a week-long trip with my business partners to view some properties. But also, we are here during this time to participate in the annual Tour de Corse where vintage cars race all over the lush scenery of this island. That will be the subject of a separate post so stay tuned for all you car and racing fanatics! Corsica is a lush beautiful large island that is filled with mountain landscapes that provide breathtaking views. After landing in the Figari Airport in the South, we went straight to Bonifacio which is the Southern most point of the island and also the most luxurious spot you can find there. Our journey began here in Bonifacio with our first leg of the trip taking us then to Porto Vecchio. You can even see in the pictures below the view of another famous island in the Mediterranean, one belonging to Italy but a region in its own right. Yes I am talking about the lovely Sardinia of course which is right here in the first picture below: Corsica is an island in the Mediterranean that belongs to the French. Although they speak French, they have their own language and own culture which they are nationalistic and proud of. This is Corsica ice plant, it grows on the beaches all over the world and is actually a weed, but it is so pretty! I am sure a lot of you are wondering what is so special about Corsica, specifically as compared to Ibiza which was the subject of my previous two blog posts. Without a doubt Ibiza is more famous, has more tourists, more attractions, and also has beautiful nature, see my Part 2 post which discusses the private beaches and the mystical Island of Es Vedra. However the magic of Corsica is that because it is not frequented by as many tourists, you truly stand in marvel of the natural elements and beauty that surrounds you. Just look at the color of the water, absolutely stunning right?! I am very fortunate to have started my journey here in Bonifacio with all of its beauty. There is something to be said of a place that is less developed and trendy. I have tried my very best to capture with a camera a small slice of the magic I witnessed here, but I know that it does not do it full justice. I have traveled the world but can say that I have never seen beauty in nature like I have here. Other vintage cars on the road traveling to the next destination on the Tour. As the evening approached, we took a final stroll with a view and braced ourselves to watch the sunset. Corsica is special, definitely worth traveling to, and a destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Whether you are here alone, on business, or traveling with your loved one — every person will stand in awe and stare at the magnificent landscape this lovely island has to offer. I hope you enjoyed this little introduction to Corsica. Good night from this beautiful place! I sincerely hope you follow me on my journey through this island to the next destinations! Travel
